Workshops & Courses

Workshops are available for everyone from total beginners to those looking to improve existing skills, right through to advance crafters who just want to get together with others for a new project.

These workshops vary in duration but are typically half, full or two-day courses depending on the course content. For most courses, tools and materials are included and refreshments are available, this includes lunch on the one and two-day courses.

Given the size of my studio, numbers will be limited to a maximum of five participants per course. If you have a larger group in mind, then I can come to your location or deliver the course in a local community venue.

If you are particularly interested in one to one/two tuition this can also be arranged.

Please get in touch to find out more or if you have any questions…. Let’s get making!

Willow

Weaving willow is a rewarding activity that lends itself to the creation of many beautiful and functional objects. At the end of each course, you will leave with new skills, new acquaintances, a new vocabulary, and a new object to treasure. This may be a basket, a structure for the garden, a decorative piece or even a sculpture.

Some courses will alternatively focus on developing techniques.

Textiles

Textile courses combine yarns and fabrics using both traditional and modern techniques, and in some instances a course may use textiles as a basis for printing. The courses will explore the use of applique, free-motion embroidery, fabric painting and printing mixing these to create beautiful items that will be useful every day.

Book Making

On a book making course you will learn how to assemble basic, often scrap materials, in a variety of ways to create jotters, notebooks or sketch books.

Using bone folders, cradles, piercing and stitching tools, paper and tactile binding materials you can convert paper, card and coverings into lovely handmade items personally crafted for friends, family or yourself.

Art

On a printing course, for example, you can explore a range of different printing techniques including mono print, block printing, screen printing, lino cut and reduction lino cut.

Subtle, yet distinct variations in your final piece will result from the use of different printing media and often the piece you like the most comes directly from exploration and experimentation.

Whichever technique you develop you will leave with the satisfaction of translating your creativity into a piece that reflects your interest, imagination and handiwork!
